We’ve already taken a look at the 5-qt wok by Aroma, the AEW-306. Now it’s time to have a glimpse at its big brother, the 7-qt electric wok. There is plenty of room in this wok to cook a big meal for the whole family.
It is a great wok for the price range of well under $50 dollars. It has some unique features that you don’t see in other electric woks which I’ll cover further. If you’d rather just check the prices and read some more customer reviews click HERE now.
Aroma AEW-305 Electric Wok Review
As I mentioned in the intro you will see that this is a big wok, coming in at around 7-qt. This is great for cooking meals for large groups or families of four or more. What it’s not so great for is storage space. Just be warned this takes up a lot of room. And if you have a small sink this can make for tough washing.
I said it has some unique features, and the main thing I noticed is this is a flat bottom wok. You rarely see this in electric woks as they usually come in a traditional round bottom. I’m assuming they did this to increase the capacity without raising the height of the wok. Whether you want a flat bottom wok or not is up to you, I prefer the round myself. But it is a trade off for the larger capacity.
The heat on this wok is good for stir-frying. I say it over and over again, but it is the main factor in choosing a good electric wok. The heat control is adjustable from low heat for warming to high heat to stir-fry. The only thing I don’t like about the heat control is there are no marks for temperature settings to go by. It is a simple blue to yellow scale. It makes it harder to get the temperature correct for the type of dish you are cooking. I much prefer the temperature control on the Breville EW30XL wok.
The AEW-305 has a good non-stick coating that makes cooking and cleanup a breeze. I mentioned earlier that trying to clean this big of a wok in a small sink could be a problem. However with the non-stick coating all you really need is some warm soapy water and a soft sponge. Plus it is dishwasher safe.
It comes with a nice domed lid, but it is not see through or vented. Not a huge negative, but they are things I like to have. It just makes cooking some dishes so much easier.
In summary this is a really good wok for the price point. It is larger than most of it’s competitors which can be a good or a bad thing. It is missing some nicer features such as the temperature control with settings, see through lid, and its made of a thinner metal which lacks some sturdiness. I’d much rather have a Breville Wok, though they cost about double, but you do get what you pay for.
If you are looking to buy the Aroma AEW-305 than the best pricing right now is on Amazon. It’s my preferred place to buy things online and recommend you check out the discount prices there.
